The Current Ships of the Royal Navy
HMForces.co.uk
Although the UK has a proud naval heritage the Royal Navy has long been under the microscope as far as manning and ships are concerned. However, with the 1998 Strategic Defence Review and the 2004 White Paper, Delivering Security in a Changing World, there are signs that the Royal Navy will return to a larger and more capable fleet with the largest naval procurement programme since the end of WWII. Part of this procurement programme is the provision of two 65,000 ton Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers, HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales, scheduled to enter service in 2014 and 2016 respectively.
In 2002 the surface fleet of the Royal Navy was reorganised into two flotillas, one each at the naval bases of Portsmouth and Plymouth. The vessels listed below make up the flotillas and other naval organisations with the Royal Navy.

Hello to English Cousin, had some problems getting on the site. also made a move to the Space Coast of FL, USA. Reading about the Royal Navy helps keep a better picture of the world in general. Beside having served closely with you, its good to stay in touch, that this American knows how importante you all are. Thank you Blandysailor. USN (Ret)

Don't you believe it! This is government spin at it's worst the fleet is shrinking rapidly! The plans made in the 1998 and 2004 reviews have long gone out of the window as defence spending has fallen to 2.2% of GDP. http://www.savetheroyalnavy.org
