Overseas Applications To Join the British Armed Forces
F-35 Lightning II - one of the most technologically advanced fighters in the world
HMForces.co.uk
For more than a hundred years the British Armed Forces have recruited from all over the word – Indeed many regiments would not have survived without the influx of recruits from Commonwealth countries, particularly from Fiji, Ireland, Jamaica, South Africa and Ghana – not to mention the old tradition of recruiting Gurkhas from Nepal.
It was many of these Commonwealth volunteers that in many instances underpinned part of how the British Empire was organised in the 19th and 20th Centuries.
In recent times overseas recruits are regarded as valuable soldiers playing increasingly important roles in operations such as Iraq and Afghanistan and will continue to do so.
The process to join one of the world’s best militaries can be a long process for some, depending on where the applicant comes from as there can be concerns about security etc. However, the opportunities are limitless for a long and fruitful career in what is arguably the best trained and most sophisticated and technologically advanced military in the world with an unrivalled history spanning several centuries.

"There are long delays in the processing of applications from Foreign and Commonwealth Nationals. The average waiting time is 6 to 8 weeks. If you have already submitted an application do not send any more e-mails as this slows down the process further."
"With immediate effect, all applications from Foreign and Commonwealth Nationals are to be made online. Online assessment of eligibility is not a guarantee of success the recruitment and selection process in UK nor is it a guarantee of eligibility for a visa." That's the official line.
