The Diary of a Navy Wife Part 2 - The Sordid Details of Life on the Patch

Today is my birthday and I have been very spoilt. I took my daughter to mother and toddler group, while hubby was at home doing the housework (yes he does chip in!). I am really looking forward to him going back to work, as much as I love him he is getting under my feet as I’m so used to him being at work or away.
After toddler group we go home as we’ve got family coming round and I need to make Sangria for tonight. My two cousins are coming round for an Indian and a chick flick, I would say a girly night in but hubby is joining us bless him.

What a good night last night – we all loved watching Confessions of a Shopaholic including hubby. Feeling a bit hung over this morning, think I may have made the Sangria too strong.
Hubby takes little princess to the Naval base to pick up his travel warrant for Sunday to meet the ship in Portsmouth. I’m enjoying the peace and quiet while they’re both out.
The weather is really bad again so I’m going shopping with my neighbour and we leave hubby with all three kids.

Today my daughter has her end of term teddy bears picnic at toddler group. I actually dislike the summer holidays to be honest because most of our toddler groups close, and then you’re left to reorganise the remainder of the weeks up front. We all have a great morning and hubby has enjoyed watching her play. After lunch we decide to go out for a walk so madam can see the ducks at the stream.
Bingo tonight at the families centre on the patch (for the civvies that’s what Forces WAGS call where you live, it’s the same expression in the Army and RAF too). What a great night, I couldn’t stop laughing all the way though the game. Don’t think the regulars are happy with us being there but at the end of the day it’s our club more than theirs as they’re civilians, and it’s about time we used it more anyway!

Busy day today – toddler group this morning on the patch, and then an open day at HMS Raleigh. Little princess is really excited because she knows that she will see nanny and granddad there. We walk up with my neighbour and call on friends on the way, it’s like a huge mother’s meeting.
When we get there nanny and granddad take madam home as they have finished work so hubby and I go and watch the fire practise which was very interesting. Hubby is excited because it shows what they do on board ship.
We then have a wander around the accommodation and hubby is starting to feel really old as we walk around his old accomodation block. After a busy day I can’t wait to have cuddles with my daughter.

Got my computer course today. Really nervous because today is my exam but… I’m so happy… because I passed!!
Hubby brings up little princess to meet me and we go and get some lunch. Talked to my neighbour when we got back, putting the world to rights over the welfare system. I think it is wrong when someone play’s the welfare card for all the wrong reasons to get their hubby home. I have seen it happen loads of times.

Staying in today as the weather is really bad again but it gives hubby a chance to get his kit ready for tomorrow. We then sit down and watch Finding Nemo for the 100th time, while hubby tries to explain to little princess that he is going away till Friday on his ship.

This weather is starting to wind me up now. All I want is the warm weather to come back and take mdam to the beach. Hubby is going this afternoon to Portsmouth to meet his ship. Little princess is starting to get really clingy and doesn’t want to leave daddy alone, but after he leaves we sit down for cuddles and play with dolls. It kind of diffuses the situation a bit.
