The RAF is no longer actively advertising Golden Hello schemes although it is still worth asking your recruiter if you qualify for any payments as some trades can and do offer incentives from time to time.
They are currently running the following Financial Retention Incentive’s (FRI’s)
RAF Regiment Gunners
Due to a shortage of gunners in the RAF Regiment a FRI of £10,000 (including commitment bonuses) had been proposed from April 2008 to 2010 for some RAF Regiment gunners, subject to them completing seven years reckonable service. This has now been dropped but do talk to your recruiter about shortages in some specialist trades.
Air Despatch
A higher rate of SP (Flying Crew) is introduced for Air Despatch, RAF Air Mobility Wing and RAF Air Ground Engineers until 2014 at the lower rate.
