Evelyn Waugh

Evelyn Waugh

Evelyn Waugh is commonly known for writing the popular novel Brideshead Revisited in 1945.

However he published many many more successful novels, commenting on issues such as colonialism, power, war, race, and the mass media. Some of his other books include Decline and Fall, Scoop and the The Sword of Honour Trilogy .

Waugh was commissioned in the Royal Marines in 1939 and later transferred to the Royal Horse Guards, serving in the Middle East and Yugoslavia.
