Bear Grylls

He is best known for his TV programmes showing him being dropped into an inhospitable area and then using all his survival skills to survive. In 1997 he became the youngest Briton to climb a peak at Mount Everest.

After leaving school, Grylls even considered joining the Indian Army and decided to spend time hiking in the Himalayan mountains of Sikkim. It was no wonder that on 18 May 2009, the Scout Association appointed Grylls as Chief Scout from July 2009.
He is also a member of the Royal Naval Reserve for services to charity and human endeavour.
