    Hi el_roberto
Yes the RAF Regiment provide force protection to deployed bases, personnel and equipment, they also take part in long range patrol and Quick Reaction Force (QRF) in response to Indirect fire (IDF) and the like.
You can still join if you wear glasses providing your site is still within the required standards but usualyl as long as your sight is corected fully by eyewear then you shouldnt have a problem.

In terms of equipment it varies hugely the standard weapons include the SA80 personal rifle, Light Support Weapon (LSW), GPMG, Minime, mortars of varies sizes, Browning 9mm, Javelin anti tank weapons, various sniper rifles, the list goes on.
For more info visit www.raf.mod.uk/careers and http://www.raf.mod.uk/rafregiment/careers/.
    Hope this helps!

Just a wee nit-pick and a wee bit of fun at the expense of the 'Rocks' ... RAF HoNington ... only 3 'n's ... been there, got the T-shirt etc etc ... especially when the RN were there in 1971-1972 and 12Sqn were flying those brick-sh*****ses of Blackburn Buccaneers and when Groupie got himself in a wee bitty trouble when during a 'fly for survival' exercise and in response to the AOC's question, "Where are your Buccaneers, Group Captain?", he said, "On the sides of my buccan head, sir!" I'm not vouching for the truth of the anecdote, but Groupie did go on to get 2 (or was it 3) stars before he retired. BUT, if we don't spell it right, the lads won't be able to find their way back from BsE when they're full of Abbot Ale (TomTom won't recognise it). Happy Days!
