51 Squadron
No. 51 Squadron was formed in 1916 at Thetford, Norfolk, as a Home Defence unit. It is currently a reconnaissance squadron flying Nimrod R1’s and is based at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire.
55 (Reserve) Squadron
No. 55 Squadron was formed in 1916 at Castle Bromwich in the West Midlands as a Training Unit. It is currently a Flying Training Squadron flying Dominies at RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire.
56 (Reserve) Squadron (Disbanded April 2008)
No. 56 Squadron was formed in 1916 at Gosport in Hampshire. It was disbanded on 22nd April 2008 and was previously an Operational Conversion Unit Squadron flying Tornado F3s and was based at RAF Leuchars, Fife.
60 Squadron
No.60 Squadron was formed in 1916 at Gosport in Hampshire. It is currently a Flying Training Squadron flying Dominies at RAF Cranwell in in Lincolnshire. It is currently a Flying Training Squadron flying Griffin HT1’s at RAF Shawbury in North Shropshire.
70 Squadron
No. 70 Squadron was formed in 1916 at Farnborough as a Home Defence squadron. It is currently an Air Transport and Air-to-Air refueling squadron flying Hercules C1/C3 and is based at RAF Lyneham in Wiltshire.
72(Reserve) Squadron
No. 72 Squadron was formed in 1917 at formed at Netheravon in Salisbury from a nucleus from the Central Flying School. It is currently a Flying Training Squadron (Reserve) flying Tucano T1’s at RAF Linton-On-Ouse.
78 Squadron
No. 78 Squadron was formed in 1916 at Newhaven in East Sussex as a Home Defence unit. It is currently a Support Helicopter Squadron flying Merlin HC MK3/3A’s at RAF Benson in Oxfordshire.
