Intelligence Corps

Intelligence Corps

Former WO1(GSM) Peter Padley MBE

The army’s Intelligence Corps was originally formed in 1914 and consisted of officers and their servants. However, this was disbanded in 1929 only to be re-created in 1940.

In February 1985 the inteligence Corps was officially declared a Combat Support Arm thus removing it from the Combat Service list.

The Intelligence Corps is very important in the modern military scene providing counter-intelligence and security information as well as gathering and analysing military intelligence subsequently being able to predict what the enemy are likely to do.

They can work closely with other regiments in the military intelligence community including special forces and the army’s SAS; in addition to government agencies such as Mi5 and Mi6.

I was given afforded a good time at Templar Depot, IC Headquarters at the time (@1988). A Brig Ford and a Major Ross (assoiation exectiive then) extended exceptional courtesy to those of us from the US that had liaison post with IC's.
What's the up-date? I believe the location changed.
