Step 3: Choose The Right Path
Royal Naval Reserve – What Commitment is Involved?
There are two aspects to consider in regard to the commitment required in joining the RNR:
The first is a time factor. You will be required to give up a portion of your spare time, a minimum of two weeks a year, a few weekends and attendance at drill nights most weeks. You initially sign up for five years, but you can apply to leave at any time. However, if mobilisation is underway it is unlikely that you will be able to leave.
The second factor is that you can expect to be mobilised. It’s important to remember that by joining the RNR you are committing to take part in active service whatever its nature.
Of course, the good news is that you get paid for your time!
Army, Air Force, Navy, the Royal Marines or even the Special Forces? Read the information and take your pick. What will you be doing with your weekends in future?
