These boots were designed for the USN SEALS for hoping in and out of boots and all that other sexy stuff, but they work for us simple grunts too! They come up just above the ankle and the first thing that will strike you is the amount of mesh in the uppers. This allows the boots an amazing level of breathability(if thats a word) which is very welcome during an Afghan summer. The most original part are the boot is the drain holes in the sole of the boot, this allows water to flush through rather than pool in the boots. In use they allowed the water to drain out of the boots very quickly after crossing draining ditches and small streams. It also allows a breeze to get to your feet and cool them down. The matierials are very tough and outlasted 2 pairs of boots(issue LOWAs and Oakley SI). They dry much quicker than even jungle boots, they also come in green for the most determined hedge lurker.
