Poll: Is Jeremy Beadle a member of this site?

Posted over 2 years ago

One Gentleman politely asked me if I'd join him in a game of Backgammon but not being well versed in the rules and machinations of that esteemed game I had to decline. Bridge wasn't his forte either; for all my suggestions we came to a point where Chess was the preferred indulgence.

The odd thing was that his mannerisms reminded me of Jeremy Beadle. Fancy a game of Finchley Central?

Come on.... he was quite funny though you've gotta admit it!  He had me in stitches some of the things he did to people then you look at these people like Baron Cohen, Avid Merrion, and Dom Joly even that Ass one in the US, they all copied off Mr Beadle (ex-RAF I believe?).

Anyway, what 'odd' things have happened on the site? I'm curious.

I think you'll find that Jeremy Beadle is dead - His obituary in the Daily Telegraph noted that he "achieved the paradoxical double distinction of being voted the second most hated man in Britain (after Saddam Hussein) and of being the most avidly watched presenter on television".

On 25 January 2008, it was reported that Beadle had been admitted to The London Hospital and was subsequently placed in a critical Care Unit due to severe pneumonia.

No, I am the original poster! Sorry this is a serious subject. I am sure Beadle is a member of this sight, or someone pretending to be him, even though the fella is dead.

The reason I raised this subject is because I wanted to ask folk if they have connections with the Masons or been approached to join a lodge by other members? I have and the situation is fishy, very fishy.

Might have been wise to come straight out with it in the first place.

Lots of weird things happen on here and there are lots of weird people on here too! :-)))

I have some recent dealings with the Masons,  but maybe our local Lodge is different, I found them completely normal, nice helpful people.

as far as I know they only ask decent law abiding people to join the Lodge, and they do check up on the person thoroughly beforehand before inviting them to join,  so if you feel you aren't a decent person with no criminal past and have been known to help charities,  then you would find it fishy,  If you  are all the above then you can either refuse the offer or start discussions if you want to join,  I believe there are many benefits, particularly for the widows and children of Masons,  they do take care of their own in the first instance. my brother was asked to join and he turned the offer down  with no recriminations and stayed on friendly terms with them.

If you have been asked to join then you must be a very decent person, as I said previously they check very thoroughly into the character of the person before approaching them, so that in itself is a compliment as you have unknowingly passed quite a rigorous character assessment

If you had asked this in the first instance it would have saved a lot of hassle.

As you are anonymous I would be interested to know, as would the others what you decide.

Sorry, I wasn't sure about members of this site. Yes I have been approached to join the masons. Well not actually asked more like 'are you interested'. But the person who asked me was Jeremy Beadle. It's a long story I know.

One has to be careful as people are not who they say they are on the internet sometimes, more so if these people use avatars instead of their real picture. I have a real picture on my profile so I just want to remain anonymous for the time being.

It's all very well attacking and criticising people for 'liking Jeremy Beadle' (like the idiot above) but I bet those doing the attacking hide behind avatars on their profile.

As I have already said:

As for hiding behind avatars that is everyones personal choice, they no doubt have their own reasons for doing so, the option is also there to do so, so it seems unfair of you to criticise such people! You, after all, did post anonymously, where is the difference?

btw I am not the "idiot" above, I am another idiot with an avatar!

sorry Mr Anonymous , but I have an avatar too -,but my real name and location is available on my profile , being an older person I didn't want to scare the wimps  and some of the girls might get jealous as some of them look older than me

and the other is as you may have guessed from the above comment ,  I AM A WOMAN and have visited our local Lodge and been allowed in the Meeting Room , AND also been allowed to take photos.

There is a term like an apprenticeship where you get the choice of staying or leaving, so all your options are open until you become a full member of you local Lodge if you so choose

and I still would like to know what you decide, being a woman I am nosy.
