I'm sure a number of you have seen this in the news.

Mr Roger Day was seen wearing 17 military service medal at a veterans parade along with the SAS beret and beret badge. He's been accused of being a fraud as his stories won't match up and it would be impossible to achieve 17 medals in one career. He was medals from WW2 to the first gulf war, 45 years apart. His local vicar has backed him up saying he has seen photos of Mr Day in the forces in his house and has spoken of experiences he had in the forces.

Is he a fraud or the genuine article?

If he is found to be a fraud what should happen to him?

In my opinion this guy is a total fake and is sick in the head.

He's been caught out and hasn't got a leg to stand on. He may have served in the past but this doesn't mean he was in the SAS and earned all of those medals.

I think the MOD should look at their records and make a statement on if what he says is true.  If he's found to be lying he should pay a substantial fine or a few month in prison.

You beat me too it Whitney! I was just about to say the same, the MOD have records that can confirm if this guy is telling the truth or not. If he is lying he should go in front of a court of law and be charged with fraud!

Right so i've read the aritcle and I get he didnt earn all the medals. But one thing isnt cleared up.

Did the guy serve at all ?

He was a 'young leader' which is an old fashioned version of the scouts. Short version, no.

He made u the stories to impress his now wife, he told her all his emdals had been lost, stolen or sold off so sh spent 600 quid buying them from collectors etc. She won't be a happy bunny!

Not quite right Whitney, he was a Junior Leader which is a young member of the Army in training! Here is an extract from The Daily Mail:

The court heard Day's only military experience was as a teenager when he did 18 months with a Junior Leaders Regiment - a former Army preparation scheme for youngsters - in 1963.

So in theory he was in the "Junior Army" although it doesnt count as "Man Service" until you reach the age of 18.

Junior Leaders isnt a very well known term outside of the Army, so unless you joined as a "Boy Soldier" the chance that you would have heard of it were slim!

There is another Walter out there who claims he is Dinger of Bravo 2 Zero fame who is now believed to be living in the Watford area.

He has fooled a lot of people in the past with his lies and made a lot of enemies in doing so.

Why? The medals were obtained legally. Its wearing them thats the problem!

to prevent him from wearing them in future.



Plus it makes the punishment larger and more costly to the guy.

However im still fo the belief that he should of had them taken from his possesion.
