| Posted over 2 years ago Sir Martin Garrod, who died 17 April aged 73, commanded the Royal Marines and helped bring peace to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1990s. Born in Darjeeling, India, in May 1935, he became a Naval officer and joined the Marines, serving in Cyprus, Borneo and Belfast. He went to Bosnia as a member of the EC Monitor Mission in 1993, helping rebuild Mostar, and, valued for his common touch, was appointed the EU Special Envoy in 1995. | Posted over 2 years ago Two RAF air crew were killed yesterday when their Tornado fast jet crashed into the hillside of a remote Scottish beauty spot. Last night, the Ministry of Defence confirmed that the pilot and weapons systems operator had died and their families had been informed. What went wrong here? It's a shame for the families. It takes three years to build a ship, three hundred to build a tradition. |
