Hi

My daughter as been in the RAF for 12 years now I am so proud of her in two weeks she is being deployed to a very bad place.

I have always bean able to tell people about her posting this time is so different people look at you in petty and say I will pray for her, light candles watch the news when she there.

I am now finding it hard to come to teams with her going I can not tell her this as to her this is just a posting like another.

If your Daughter is going out with te RAF she should be safe....if she is in Bastion, its pretty safe and KAF is not too bad as well.....even in most of the big FOBs is not too bad...what branch is she in ?

Hi sylvia and welcome.

Tartanninja is right and he knows what he is talking about. You shouldnt worry too much, there are thousands of troops out there and 99,9% of them come home safe and well.

If you feel the need to chat with someone then this is the right place, you are amongst friends here that have been through this type of thing themselves.

dreme is bang on....you only here the negative side of OP tour in Afghan........you will of course still worry, what parent would not...all depends on what Job She is doing and where she will be based....the Lads and Lassies on here are great for a chat..and lots have been (like dreme) been on Op's or have loved ones on Op's even on this tour coming, so dont bottle it up........
