That's a lot to lose in 40 days! Good luck!

I would have thought too much to do it sensibly!  I might be wrong though!

well the 40 days is the time it should take for my PNC form to arrive back to me when i send it off...more then likely sometime next week

i might not have to lose the full amount...just at least get it close and then once i've been back to the AFCO when my form arrives

see what happens then, hopefully it will give me abit more time..maybe another month or so

Hi Boom,

What a dilema, there is nothing worse than having to loose weight under a time pressure, it hard for me to tell you the right thing to do as i dont know what you have done to date, i am not a fan of diets because 9 times out of 10 they dont work.

The calculation you need is the ammount of calories eaten to the ammount burnt during training.  The ideal way to eat is little and often with breakfast (smaller portion) then snack, lunch (smaller portion) snack, dinner (smaller portion) then snack.  then leave all the crisps and stuff at night whilst watching tv etc.

The idea for that is eating little and often during the day is that you are still active and should burn off what you have had but sat late at night eating and doing nothing it can only stay in one place, on you.

The healthy ammount to loose a week is about 1-2 lbs which i know doesnt help your cause at the moment but loosing lots and lots quick, one you will make yourself ill and you could put on twice as much.

Have a look at www.nutrichef.co.uk for eating ideas very good healthy eaing company who we use for our bootcamps, and the main thing is to have a good structured training plan doing lots of curcuits.

You can get a free warm up and cool down video on our bootcamp website www.militaryfitnessbootcamp.co.uk and the warm up video you can use as a stand alone workout by picking up the pace of the excercises.

Please keep me informed and if you have any questions just let me know.

Good luck mate and train well

Thanks for the response Billy,

I've just seen the website you quoted and signed up for the warm up/cool down videos...

I currently go to the gym when I can but could do with that extra insight, as constantly bashing the treadmill is a little tedious to be frank..

Its not so much the excercise thats the hard part, its deciding what's good to eat and what to avoid but still maintain a good intake of energy, if you have never really dieted before...

Hopefully with that nutrichef site i can set out a decent and balanced diet and make the 2 stone cut in 6-7 weeks...

Once again thanks for your help, much appreciated

Regards

Karl

Well I'm not an expert but I'll throw a tip in.. Pretty much smaller portions, balanced amount of veg/white meats etc and planned exercise, eat a good breakfast and don't eat after 7 (Well that's what I do personally.) probably not of much help but it's about all I can do :p

I used to skip breakfast but now since working where I am,  I now have a nice breakfast and which leads me to having a smaller lunch and then a Propor meal at Dinner time,   With that and doing exercise I feel healther and have lost weight.

So my tip Eat a Decent Breakfast,  avoid the fry ups.  Nice bowl of porriage is good for you and very filling.

It's not losing it, it's keeping it off, that said best way is to stop eating Bread and Potatoes , give it a try for two weeks and see what I  mean .

Simple and effective.

Go to slimming world, a friend of mine who's in the TA tried it and lost 4 stone in 4 months and inspired me to do the same.

I've needed to loose some weight for a while, having worked in an office for 4 years and not physing like I used to, started to pile it on.  So I joined 3 weeks ago and have lost nearly a stone already and 4 inches off my waist.

The answer is not how much you eat it's what you eat and when, also little hints that I've learned from other people like eat your fruit before lunch time so enabling your body to burn off the sugar and your carbs before 1800hrs.  Eat half a banana half an hour before you go to bed - so it keeps your metabolism going while your asleep and cut out white bread.

It's not all bed news though - you are allowed to some of the things you like so it's not like a diet per se, it just makes you sensible about what you eat.  This an phys being a young bloke it should fall off you - give it a try

I could write you a whole book on the mindset you need to achieve for weight loss, but it would take me too long to write, & not enough time for you to take action.

One thing I will say though is ditch the idea of "diet", as Billy_Smart said; 9/10 don't work. I'd say the odds are worse if you want to maintain the loss.

If you tell yourself you can't have something, you will crave it more. Don't deny yourself any foods, just balance what you eat, the amounts & when you eat it.

Drink lots of water, especially before & with meals.

One NLP technique I'll share is to visualise yourself looking in the mirror & seeing the reflection of your ideal shape & then stepping into the mirror & becoming one with the image, seeing, hearing, feeling what you would do when you were that size. Sounds new-agey I know, but your unconscious mind works from images & feelings more than any other stimuli.

One thing that I know from a lot of people who have tried it, is a juicing plan by a chap named Jason Vale. One friend (ex-Matelot/looked like Buddha) lost 4 inches off his gut in 7 days. It also gives you lots of energy apprently to do your exercise plan, a female friend who went on his plan put a post on facebook saying she'd "got so much energy I had to go & jump around on my bed like a trampoline!"

once i'm down to a suitable weight i will re-apply coz i dont really wana start crash dieting and trying to lose 3 stone within 6 weeks or so...

whats this juicing tip you mean Hypno? just juice all your meals up or drink lots of smoothies or something?

I've cut my portions down aswell, started eating more fruit and less stodgy foods, swapped chips for jacket potatoes and drinking water instead of juice :)

Its just down to discipline more then anything really...:) although the missus is scared i leave her once i get toned and skinny hahaha women for ya eh :P

Just google "Jason Vale" the juice master! He does a 7 day lose weight book or something. He was a guest speaker at a business marketing conference I went to earlier this year. He used to be a fat spiv with a mullet, got into juicing & now is fit toned & hilarious to listen to. He's worked with Jordan & other real celebs to get thin.

If you are quiting smoking I could send you an ebook I wrote last year on breaking bad habits. Normally charge for it, but if you are planning on joining up, I'll send you one for free. Drop me an email if you want a copy.

Thanks for the compliment Tom. Sad state of affairs that it is rare to help someone without expecting something in return.

The e-book offer is open to anyone who has served or is planning on serving. I made my money back on it (from civvies) when I was a full time Therapist, so if I can help a member of the Forces Community by sharing some advice, I'm more than happy to give it away.

 Thanks for the support guys

I might take you up on that offer Stu, although i'm not really having the urge to smoke, i wasn't that heavy a smoker to begin with so i guess its not to bad...only thing i am having to be disciplined about is finding something to do when i would usually have a cigarette haha

starting to feel the benefits of going gym, eating healthy and stopping smoking already !!! the big test for me is tomorrow when i'm at my mates all day for a social gathering, gunna go light on the beer...and stay clear of the smokers haha

Tom, i'm not really dieting to the extreme, just having smaller portions but making sure i have enough to fill my energy levels back up, i understand what you are saying though !!!

I'll keep yaz informed of any changes :)

cut the booze - the fry ups and any other junk food like kfc and chocolate etc - and get some exercise not saying you will lose as much as you want but without the junk food you will feel better - decent breakfast - not too big a lunch and a proper meal at night with real meat and veg not the frozen TV dinner though as they come under junk food  - they are full of disgusting chemicals - you know - the stuff you have to cook yourself
