Since I've been a member, I've noticed a few of you, using real names and locations on your profiles.

I don't want to scare monger but you can be easily traced by what you post online. Do notlet yourself be a target

Stay aware and stay safe.

Indeed - thanks once again for pointing that out.

Members, please remember to check out the - Rules of Engagement of this site. Most Military type web sites suscribe to this rule.

In addition, check out the FAQs on how to make your profile public or private.

I'm a dick when it comes to serious stuff, can never quite help myself from sniggerin'. But gotta say that Per-Sec is important. Shall we say there are some right-on particular nutcases in Brown's Britain (errrm I'll stop meself from going too far with that one can only say Jack the Ripper to you, don't wanna incur wrath of MODS, done that a bit too much recently!! ) running amok and would like nothing better than finding out where we all live.

The only preference I have is swatting Muslim extremists...

Per-sec is still an ongoing issue, sorry to be a bore and all that, not something you'd really discuss down the pub so I leave it to your good selves to discuss in these boards - make no mistake bad people look on this site so be aware not to drop your contacts details publically where everyone can see them, and don't post your email address on my profile which some members have done recently!!

I quickly deleted those posts but I can't check all the time. Just wanted to point that out.

Stay safe and enjoy whatever you're doing.

For those who don't know PERSEC stands for Personal Security, COMSEC is communications security. And it's a very serious issue. Not only is there those who will use any details they can to steal your identity or gain access to your information or computer but there are also people out there who don't like the military and will make sure you know it and make your life very emotional and difficult, people a lot closer to home than you think.

I'm not talented with computers but even I could do some harm with some of the details ive seen here if I wanted.

Like stewart said have a look at the 'Rules of Engagement' for guidence but some general rules, don't only disclose:

  • Any personal contact information such as telephone numbers, e-mail addresses, home or work addresses

  • Full birthdates

  • Detailed information on hobbies, family, past times that could give clue to passwords or whereabouts

  • Information on deployment dates, lengths, transport arrangements

Just be careful in what you say, bad people are out there.

Never give up, never quit, if you havent bled you haven't earnt it.
