The Rifles

The Rifles

The Rifles were formed in 2007 by the amalgamation of the four Light Infantry and Rifle Regiments of the Light Division: The Devonshire and Dorset Light Infantry; The Light Infantry; The Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Light Infantry and The Royal Green Jackets.

The Rifles recruit from a wide range of counties: Berkshire; Buckinghamshire; Cornwall; Devonshire; Dorset; Durham; Gloucestershire; Oxfordshire; Shropshire; Somerset; South Yorkshire and Wiltshire. The Rifles consist of the following Battalions:

Regular Battalions: 1st Bn The Rifles (1 RIFLES)
2nd Bn The Rifles (2 RIFLES)
3rd Bn The Rifles (3 RIFLES)
4th Bn The Rifles (4 RIFLES)
5th Bn The Rifles (5 RIFLES)

Territorial Army Battalions: 6th Bn The Rifles (6 RIFLES)
7th Bn The Rifles (7 RIFLES)

Of the seven Battalions the 1st Bn is dedicated as a Commando Infantry Battalion as part of 3 Commando Brigade while the 2nd and 3rd Bns are employed in the Light Role. The 4th Bn is a Mechanised Infantry Battalion with the 5th Bn employed as Armoured Infantry. The 6th and 7th Bns are Territorial Reserve Battalions.

    There should be any difference in pay unless of course the AAC ground crew start off on the higher pay band which, I don't think they do. Usually most start on the lower pay band until they reach LCpl unless they are in some techy trade

    who gets paid more? AAC groundcrew fresh from the factory or infantry fresh from it? does any1 know as im in between choices
