British Army Entrance Fitness Requirements
HMForces.co.uk
September 23, 2008
The fitness requirement consists of a 1.5 mile run that must be completed according to the time set for the particular Regiment/Corps that you are intending to join.
• Infantry Regiments (not including the Paras) – 12 mins 45 secs or less
• Royal Armoured Corps, Royal Artillery, Royal Engineers, Household Cavalry, Royal Logistic Corps, Pioneers – 13 mins 15 secs or less
• All other Arms or Services – 14 mins or less
• Candidates for the Army Development Course at Army Training Regiment, Winchester (Aged 17 years, 1 month or younger) – 14 mins or less
• Candidates for the Army Foundation College Harrogate (Aged 16 years to 17 years and I month) – 14 mins 30 secs or less
The Parachute Regiment has a slightly different system in that there are two time targets and also the run is followed by a static weight lift of 116kg or more.
If the run is completed in 9 mins 18 secs or less the lift has to be completed but it is not considered in the final result.
If the run is completed between 9 mins 19 secs and 9 mins 40 secs the performance in the static lift will be considered in the final result.
Here’s what you will need to be able to achieve by the time you are ready to become a fully-fledged member of the British Armed Forces.

Hi, hoping to join TA. Am female, 18 and bmi is 32 (height 5'7"- ish). If I lose weight can I join. I wear glasses (is this a problem?) and am willing to quit smoking if necessary (only on 20/40 a week anyway). Hoping to be a millitary police officer, not sure about regiments or if this applies to this job- live in W Yorks. Any info on entry reqs (education, physical, psycological etc) would be much appreciated,

Hi Ladies and Gents there is alot of talk on here about BMI's all i can say is dont get bogged down with them they are stats made up by all sorts of boffins who get paid alot. If i personally went and had my BMI done which i have it would tell me i am obese and need to loose 2 stone, which would make me look ill, you have to be happy with your own body and weight and not worry whats stats you should be, getting to your BMI does not make you fit.
