The Prince of Wales' Division

The Prince of Wales Division recruit from Wales, The West Midlands, Cheshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Worcestershire. The Regiments of the Prince of Wales Division have a wide variety of roles including employment in the Armoured and Mechanised Infantry and Light Roles.

The Mercian Regiment

The Mercian Regiment consists of the following Battalions:

Regular Battalions

1st Bn The Mercian Regiment (Cheshire) (1 MERCIAN)
2nd Bn The Mercian Regiment (Worcester and Foresters) (2 MERCIAN)
3rd Bn The Mercian Regiment (Staffords) (3 MERCIAN)

Territorial Army Battalion
4th Bn The Mercian Regiment

The Regiment was formed by the amalgamation of The Cheshire Regiment (1st Bn), Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment (2nd Bn), Staffordshire Regiment (3rd Bn) and The West Midland Regiment 4th (V) Bn) in 2007. The Regiment is named after the ancient English kingdom of Mercia that is generally covered by the recruiting areas of Cheshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire and Worcestershire. The 1st and 2nd Battalions are employed in the Light Role with the 3rd Battalion dedicated to Armoured Infantry. The 4th Battalion is a territorial reserve unit.

The Royal Welsh

The Royal Welsh consists of the following Battalions:

Regular Battalions

1st Bn The Royal Welsh (The Royal Welch Fusiliers) (1 R WELSH)
2nd Bn The Royal Welsh (The Royal Welch Fusiliers) (2 R WELSH)

Territorial Army Battalion

3rd Bn The Royal Welsh (3 R WELSH)

The Regiment was formed in 2006 from an amalgamation of The Royal Welch Fusiliers, The Royal Regiment of Wales (24th/41st Foot) and The Royal Welsh Regiment (TA). Both ancestor regiments were created in 1689 and it recruits from Wales. The 1st Battalion is employed in the Light Role whereas the 2nd Battalion is an Armoured Infantry Battalion. The 3rd Battalion is a territorial reserve unit.
